BIOGRAPHY
Drummer / Composer / Teacher

Fabien Ghirotto started playing drums and was mainly influenced by artists like King Crimson, Rage Against The Machine or the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
When he arrived at the Annecy Conservatory, he discovers jazz, being fascinated by the richness of the playing modes approached on the instrument as well as by the development of improvisation and interaction between the musicians.
He then perfected his skills at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne, having had the privilege of studying with Marcel Papaux, Dré Pallemaerts (Drums), Emil Spanyi (Composition / Arrangement) and Jeff Baud (Workshops). He obtained a Bachelor in Jazz (2019) with a jury prize for his excellent performance at the final concert, a Master in Pedagogy (2021) and a Master in Music Performance (2023).
Currently leader of his own composition quartet, he is also a sideman in many projects such as Floating Land (winner of the jazz counterband springboard in 2020 - opening act for Tigran Hamasyan), Sqyp, Paul Marsigny Sextet, Estampes, Antoine Savoie Quintet.
He has also performed with musicians such as Ralph Alessi, Ohad Talmor, Bojan Z, Etienne M'Bappe, Bänz Oester, Matthieu Michel, François Thuillier, Dado Moroni, Robert Bonisolo.
These various collaborations have enabled him to perform in jazz festivals and clubs in France, Switzerland, Italy and Africa.
Passionate about transmission, he teaches drums at the Conservatoire des Régions (CH), at the Vallorbe music school (CH) and at the Centre des Pratiques Musicales d'Annecy (FR).
